Judith obtained her PhD from the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. Her thesis was focused on understanding the hippocampal mechanisms underlying learning and memory processes, and was conducted under the mentorship of Professor Mario Engelmann at the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. In September 2017, Judith joined the Neurula lab to apply her skills and knowledge to investigate neurodegenerative diseases. She is enthusiastic to contribute in advancing the understanding and ability to diagnose neurological disorders. Her focus in the Neurula lab is to investigate the effects of neuroinflamation in the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease and develop novel immune-based therapies that will potentially benefit patients in the future. Judith enjoys travelling, hiking and spending time outdoors with friends.
